ClientFred PerryBackgroundIn 1934 Fred Perry became the first Englishman to win the men's singles title at Wimbledon. A feat he repeated in 1935 and 1936, he founded the company, which bears his name in 1952 and its first venture was a lightweight sweatband for the top tennis players of the day. It then developed the original version of the performance sports shirt for which it is so well known. The shirt originally became a fashion item in the early sixties, making Fred Perry perhaps the first sports brand to be worn as leisurewear. SolutionFred Perry have three workstations connected to a client/server platform at head office, for retail and merchandising analysis. The Bleep software package acts as a retail engine to facilitate product data initiated on the AS400 system being seamlessly linked to the point of sale terminals in the retail stores. This enables instant transfer of data in both directions - for example price changes are effected by reprogramming bar codes centrally thus saving hours of branch effort and reducing the potential for error. A further crucial feature of Retail Control by Bleep is the system's in-built report generator, which head office staff use to design and create reports showing precisely the information they want. Result"Bleep rose to the occasion superbly," says Nigel Compton-Cook, IT Systems Administrator for Fred Perry. "They installed and programmed our terminals, trained our store staff in the POS specifics and sent a team member to the flagship store to provide support. And as always, they were friendly and easy to deal with". |
