Background

Sir John Soane's Dulwich Picture Gallery is the greatest find in London: a magnificent collection of old masters by Rembrandt, Poussin, Watteau, Rubens, Canaletto, Gainsborough and many more. The critically acclaimed loan exhibitions and its setting in the beautiful eighteenth century village of Dulwich, make the Gallery a must for all art lovers. The Gallery has recently undergone extensive refurbishment and building, providing essential new services, including the Picture Gallery store. Like many other heritage sites, the Dulwich Picture Gallery has a busy retail shop which sells a wide range of books, postcards, prints, posters, tableware, jewellery and gifts. The shop, like the Gallery, is open six days a week and wanted a user- friendly, PC-based Windows system that could cope with this complexity and diversity. It choose Retail Control by Bleep from Bleep Computing.

Solution

The Dulwich Picture Gallery has the latest version of Bleep's Retail Control software with integrated chip & pin solution. Easy to operate touch screen POS terminals reduce transaction times, whilst providing accurate sales and stock reporting.

Result

The system runs on various head office PCs, for accounts and stock control
purposes. Using the system's unique in built report generator, the Gallery designs and prints its own special reports containing information such as average transaction value, best-sellers and the results of product promotions. The system can also produce a breakdown of customer profile - where visitors come from, when and why - which enables management to devise more effective marketing strategies.
